Cavendish Farms Expansion No. 2
New Annan, PEI
Cavendish Farms is a quality producer of frozen potato products
throughout Canada, the United States and around the world. A $75M
state-of-the-art food processing plant was constructed in PEI in 1996.
This 280 m long industrial building was framed with structural steel
framing using Gerber girder construction and steel roof beams to create
large column free areas, economize application of required protective
coatings and permit fast track design and construction of the structure
prior to the final selection of numerous unusually large roof top
equipment. Included in the design were a large office section,
extensive mezzanines, equipment platforms, catwalks, concrete pits and
reservoirs.
Eastern Designers was responsible for
complete structural engineering services including concepts,
preliminaries, final design, contract documents and site inspections to
confirm compliance with the project specifications. This project
indicates Eastern Designers' ability to complete a major project on a
fast-tracked approach within a limited time and bring the project in on
time and on budget while being part of a large group including a
project management team, architects, electrical, mechanical and process
engineers.
